Meet the Doctors

Dr. Darryl A. Skale

Dr. Darryl has always been a great leader. He grew up in Ohio and was captain of the varsity lacrosse team at The Ohio State University as an undergraduate before receiving his dental degree from Ohio State in 1979. He was highly involved at the dental school and served as the Treasurer of the professional dental fraternity Alpha Omega. He moved to the Chicago area with his beautiful wife to start his professional career.

In 1983, Dr. Skale opened the doors to his practice in Northbrook and has been an integral part of the community ever since. Darryl may be better known as Coach Skale than Dr. Skale because any time not spent at the office or with his family is on the sidelines of the practice field.

He began coaching for Northbrook youth soccer in 1989 and was instrumental in starting the girls traveling program. He served as Director of Youth Soccer for the Park District from 2000-2006 and his commitment to youth soccer program got him elected into the Northbrook Park District Hall of Fame in 2006. Believe it or not, is still coaching today. Currently he is President of Spartan FC Soccer Club and is an assistant varsity lacrosse coach at Glenbrook North High School, a position he has held for 13 years.

Additionally, he has been a Glenbrook North High School team dentist, providing ProForm mouthguards to many of Northbrook's top athletes.

Coaching might be his favorite hobby, but it isn't his profession. Dr. Skale is also known within the community as an excellent dentist. He works hard to stay current by taking significant dental continuing education courses. Each year, Doctor spends time gaining clinical knowledge, refining his skills and learning how to better himself and his team at the office. He prides himself on having a "CLEAN" office with the best technology. Of course he is a member of the Academy of Sports Dentistry, but additionally he is also involved with the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, and the Chicago Dental Society. Dr. Skale also served on the Head Advisory Board for the Lake County Headstart Program.

Dr. Ryan L. Skale

It was only a matter of time before Dr. Ryan returned home to join the family dental practice. He grew up in Northbrook, attended Glenbrook North High School where he excelled in academics and athletics as a soccer and lacrosse player. Ryan continued his education in Ohio where he received his bachelor's degree from Miami (OH) University and immediately accepted a position at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Following dental school, Ryan was selected to be a dental resident in a competitive program at the Bay Pines VA hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida where he received an Advanced Education in General Dentistry with a focus on implant dentistry, oral surgery, root canal treatment, cosmetic dentistry and full mouth rehabilitation while treating medically compromised patients.

Ryan and his father bring a family feel to the practice of dentistry, ensuring each patient is treated with compassion and respect while receiving excellent dental care.

Dr. Ryan has gained even further advanced education through a TMJ and Sleep Therapy residency program and 200 hours of continuing ed which allows him admittance into the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and as "Fellowship-Eligible" in the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. He currently is studying for board certification from the AADSM and AACP. Dr. Ryan Skale is also a member of the American Dental Society and Chicago Dental Society and is working towards gaining enough continuing dental education to become a fellow with the Academy of General Dentistry. Ryan's clinical skills and calm demeanor have made for an easy transition into private practice.
