Known affectionately around town as “Coach Skale,” Dr. Darryl has spent decades shaping smiles in the office and shaping lives on the field. His influence in Northbrook, IL, extends far beyond dentistry, where he has dedicated countless hours to mentoring and coaching young athletes.
Dr. Skale has volunteered his time at Covenant Village, a local retirement community, providing free dental screenings and care to seniors in need — often on his day off. His compassionate approach to dentistry carries into every aspect of his community involvement.
As a lifelong coach and advocate for youth sports, Dr. Skale has mentored countless children in soccer and lacrosse through the Northbrook Park District and Glenbrook North High School. His decades-long dedication earned him induction into the Northbrook Park District Hall of Fame in 2006 — an honor that speaks to his outstanding commitment to local youth and sports programs.
In addition to his work as a coach, Dr. Skale has served as the team dentist for Glenbrook North High School, where he provides professional-grade ProForm mouthguards to help protect the smiles of student-athletes. He has also contributed his time to the Lake County Head Start Program, serving on the Head Advisory Board to improve children’s health and access to care throughout the area.

Dr. Ryan also shares his expertise with other healthcare professionals, having lectured at a local study club on Pediatric Sleep Apnea and the vital role dentists can play in identifying and managing this condition. His passion for education and community wellness continues to inspire both his peers and his patients.
Outside the office, Dr. Ryan can often be found coaching through the Northbrook Park District, giving back to the same programs that shaped his childhood. Whether on the sidelines or in the operatory, his mission remains the same — to make a lasting difference in his community by helping others thrive.
