Dr. Ryan Skale
It was only a matter of time before Dr. Ryan returned home to join the family dental practice. He grew up in Northbrook, IL, and attended Glenbrook North High School, where he excelled in academics and athletics as a soccer, basketball, and lacrosse player. Ryan continued his education in Ohio, where he received his bachelor’s degree from Miami (OH) University and immediately accepted a position at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Following dental school, Ryan was selected to be a dental resident in a competitive program at the Bay Pines VA hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he received an Advanced Education in General Dentistry certificate with a focus on implant dentistry, oral surgery, cosmetic dentistry, and complex full mouth rehabilitation while treating our country’s veterans.
Ryan and his father bring a family feel to the practice of dentistry, ensuring each patient is treated with compassion and respect while receiving excellent dental care.
Dr. Ryan has recently gained even further advanced education through an arduous TMJ and Sleep Therapy residency program and completed over 200 hours of continuing education specifically focused on TMJ pain and Sleep Disordered Breathing. In 2016, he was accepted as a Diplomate in the American Board of Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine after passing a written examination and submitting successful case studies to the board. He is a “Fellowship-Eligible” in the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and the American Board of Craniofacial Pain.
Dr. Ryan Skale is a member of the ADA, ISDS, CDS, AACP, ABCDSM, AADSM, and AGD. He is working toward a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry.
40 Under 40 Nomination
Dr. Skale was honored to be nominated by Incisal Edge Magazine’s 40 Under 40 in 2021 for completing an AEGD residency at Bay Pines VA in Florida, where he provided free, comprehensive care to veterans. He began a focus on TMJ and sleep therapy and was recommended for Diplomate status by Drs. Allen Moses and Steven Olmos, two “founding fathers” of dental sleep medicine. He is a Diplomate with the American Board of Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine and a Fellow of the American Board of Craniofacial Pain.
Dr. Darryl Skale
Dr. Darryl has always been a great leader. He grew up in Dayton, Ohio, and was captain of the varsity lacrosse team at The Ohio State University as an undergraduate before receiving his dental degree from Ohio State in 1979. He was highly involved at the dental school and served as the treasurer of the professional dental fraternity Alpha Omega. He moved to the Chicago area with his beautiful wife to start his professional career.
In 1984, Dr. Skale opened the doors to his practice in Northbrook, IL, and has been an integral part of the community ever since. Darryl may be better known as Coach Skale than Dr. Skale because any time not spent at the office or with his family is on the sidelines of the practice field.
He began coaching for Northbrook Youth Soccer in 1989 and was a pioneer in developing the Girls Traveling Soccer Program in Northbrook. He served as Director of Youth Soccer for the Park District from 2000 to 2006, and his commitment to youth soccer got him elected into the Northbrook Park District Hall of Fame in 2006. Believe it or not, he is still coaching today as an Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach, a position he has held for 20 years. Previously, he stood as President of the Spartan FC soccer club for many years.
Coaching might be his favorite hobby, but it isn’t his profession. Dr. Skale is also known within the community as an excellent and caring dentist. He works hard to stay current by taking significant dental continuing education courses. Each year, the doctor spends time gaining clinical knowledge, refining his skills, and learning how to better himself and his team at the office. He prides himself on having a “CLEAN” office with the best technology. Of course, he is a member of the Academy of Sports Dentistry, but additionally, he is involved with the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, and the Chicago Dental Society.
Dr. Wei Ting Ho
Dr. Ryan Skale is thrilled to welcome Dr. Wei Ting Ho, board-certified periodontist, onto the Skale Dental Professionals team, as Dr. Ho was one of Dr. Ryan’s surgical mentors while Dr. Ryan was a predoctoral student at Ohio State. Dr. Ho was hand-picked by Dr. Ryan, who believes that comprehensive therapy is the key to the highest level of success. Having a surgeon in-house at Skale Dental allows for the best collaborative treatment approach and working relationship with our doctors and team. And best of all, the treatment is done within the comfort of our Skale Dental office.
Dr. Ho’s patients applaud his gentle and friendly manner, along with his detailed and thorough approach to treatment. His advanced surgical skill set in the field of periodontics gives our patients the opportunity to improve their oral health, save teeth, replace missing teeth, improve function, and esthetics. The most common procedures in helping rebuild smiles are with treatment utilizing tissue regeneration and dental implants.
Dr. Wei Ting Ho is a diplomate and board-certified with the American Board of Periodontology (2009). He is a graduate of The Ohio State University, where he received his M.S. and Certificate of Periodontology in 2009. Dr. Ho received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from China Medical University in Taichung, Taiwan, in 2002. Dr. Ho also served as a professor of Surgical Science at Marquette University School of Dentistry.
